Especially this season with a shortens off season due to the strike allot of valuable information can be taken from these initial games.
Last night we seem Tim Tebow look confident and comfortable, I believe with out a doubt he will be the opening game season. So that changes some fantasy outlook, Kyle Orton in the right situation will thrive, and Tebow will get you 20 TD's total. So if your in a league were quarterbacks only get 4 points for pass touchdowns and 6 for rushing Tebow could be a double digit consistent guy.
Vincent Jackson solidified himself as a top 10 guy, he is physically one of the biggest receivers out there and Philip Rivers is tossing him his balls. The patriots defense looks like a safe bet again, were as the Eagles look like there going to give up some big points again this season.
Kevin Kolb and Larry Fitzgerald looked to have good timing for there limited work together which is a good sign for there stocks. I also believe that everyone should stay clear of the Cowboys Defense.
There were a few suprises through the mock draft just as there is in normal drafts. People alot of the times feel as if they most follow rankings to a T but that is alwaycorrect. If you have a feeling that some body is going to have a monster year don't be affraid to take them over higher ranked ayers! Also another piece of advice, when TE and QB start coming off the board don't panic, and certainly don't change your draft plan. In the 4th round of our mock draft two TE came off in the first 2 picks, when this happens most people panic and take a TE unless 3-4 come off in a row stick too your guns. As the other team owners take a TE someone will fall too you.
Anyone interested in participating in a mock 'practice' draft, and or be in a readers fantasy football league with us email us at jbcodora@gmail.com or mryans@yahoo.com. You can also email us draft questions as well. If we can get some leagues going we will participate in every league and the winners of the leagues will win $300 StubHub gift cards in every league.JBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17406096829402097142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-46377039548636367972011-08-01T13:04:00.000-04:002011-08-01T13:04:49.430-04:00Fantasy Football Draft PrepFantasy Football Drafts will start taking place with in the next few weeks. Everyone who is actively involved surely is prepping for the drafts, atleast if they want a successful season and draft. It almost feels like the World of Fantasy Football is on hold while the NFL sorts through all the Free Agents. Since nearly 25% of the league became free agents after the lock out it is impossible to rank players with out knowing what situation they are going to be in.
At this point most of the big moves are done, and we have a fairly good idea what is going to happen with the rest. So finally we can move foward with our positional rankings, player rankings, and our top 200 rankings. There will be some players that their stock improves from out preseason rankings like Darren Sproles who is now with the Saints. Though he isn't a top guy he is a good bye week option, or a 3rd option guy. Another guy is Plaxico, he is in a place where he could end up being there big play maker. And a guy who stock will be down abit is Peyton Manning. Questions with his neck, and there offensive line, but he is stil Peyton Manning I would be Leary about using a first or second round pick on him.
So stay tuned as we will begin rolling out our draft rankings.
Reggie Bush will be an impact fantasy player. Now that don't mean I believe he is a top 10 back right now, but he could end the season that way! The simple fact is that is New Orleans he did underachieve for sure, but to his defense New Orleans passes all day long. Now in Miami there are still questions to be answered, will they resign Rickey Williams, will Ronnie Brown be back, and will Kyle Orton end up in a Dolphins jersey.
No matter who ends up under center Bush is a huge winner by this signing. Expect him to have games with has many has 18-20 carries, he is so explosive don't be surprised with a couple big play's a game. Of course he will continue to catch balls in the flats were he maybe the most dangerous guy in the NFL.
So when our new Positional Rankings come out expect Bush to make a big jump. He should now be taken seriously as a fantasy football impact player.Mike Ryanshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01520380793705470499noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-59566803248347631112011-07-26T11:53:00.000-04:002011-07-26T11:53:20.098-04:00Fantasy Football Jump StartNow that the NFL Lockout is behind us and camp's will be in full swing this weekend, it is time to start you fantasy football Draft Prep. This week we will be keeping up with all the moves and post on how it will effect fantasy stocks. The next 10-14 could decide the power of
The NFL aswell as who will be your top fantasy players. There are some guys who could really benefit from a change of scenery. For example if Randy Moss ends up with a top QB he could have a monster year. You got Reggie Bush to, Ochs ends up in the right spot he could also have a career year.
So onething is clear, the next few weeks will change the Position Rankings for sure. We will help keep it all in perspective and update rankings as needed! Then on or around August 16th we will release our ore draft rankings, so your ready for your draft.
A good majority of them have asked us about drafting What is called 'handcuffed' guys. For example if you had drafted Vick and late in your draft you take Kevin Kolb. Or if you take Adrian Petterson in the first later taking Toby Gearhart. This is something that every Fantasy owner must answer yearly. Personally it is a case by case thing.
There are certainly instances where I would recommend drafting a back up of a player you took early. But things must line up right at the same time. If I take Maurice Jones-Drew again this season I would again pick up Rashard Jennings again but as a free agent. This is where doing research before a draft is important. If you were to take Jamaal Charles and were adamant about having Thomas Jones you would more than likely have to use one of your 6-8 picks for him. Personally I don't like to use valuable picks for someone who is only valuable if a injury occurs. Thomas Jones has value but only in a 2-3 RB setting.
I do however believe in handcuffing you opponents, example last season when Frank Gore was Injured I set my alarm clock for 5:45am so I was awake when the waiver wire opened at 5:59am to pick up Brian Westbrook. I never played him but it helped knock my biggest competition in that league from 2nd place to out of the playoffs.
We will touch much more on this subject in the coming weeks, I just wanted to make sure readers didn't think we were disregarding the emails.

Do you have questions? Here are some skill position guys we expect to be big fantasy guys this season.

Josh Freeman, Quarterback, TB, this guys made big plays last year and he is surrounded by targets and play makers.

Mark Sanchez, Quarterback, NYJ, possibly throwing to Plaxico this year, expect him to continue to progress. He makes smart plays.

Roy Helu, RB, Wash, the rookie Runningback is set to be in a Runningback by committee with Ryan Torain, Torain can't stay healthy so expect good production.

Mikel LeShoure, RB, Det, another rookie splitting time, the Lions have Jahvid Best who is a big play maker but LeShoure could be the teams work horse.

Jonnathon Stewart, RB, Carolina, DeAngelo Williams is expected to be gone, so he will be the premier Runningback.

Julio Jones, Wr, ATL, Atlanta gave up 4 draft pics to move up and grab this guy. With Roddy white and Tony Gonzalez ATL will be putting the ball in the air. Jones is 6-3 220 pounds and physical he is going to be a monster!

Greg Little, Wr, Cle, he is expected by people with in the organization to become McCoys go to guy.

Mike Thomas, Wr, Jax, in his second year he became Garrards go to guy, this season expect much of the same with improvements.

Jacoby Ford, Wr, Oakland, Ford is just explosive, he will score you points as a reciever and a return man.JBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17406096829402097142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-87613375952622433302011-07-16T18:32:00.001-04:002011-07-16T18:32:11.175-04:00Contract Year Players

While fantasy owners must consider this years free agent market, who is holding out who ends up where, it is nearly as important to know who is playing in a contract year. Players playing in a contract year can be a good bet a good portion of the time. Some guys come out of a rookie contract and hungry to get a huge deal, some players are coming into there biggest contracts. So here is a list of players in contract years, in no particular order.

QUARTERBACKS

Michael Vick, Eagles, believe it or not this guy has another upside, it is a contract year and everyone must know he is hungry to get his first big contract since getting out of prison.

Kevin Kolb, Eagles, though he is unlikely to be a Eagle this season, the fact is where ever he plays he has allot to prove, but he has a chance to get big bucks.

Drew Brees, NO, no question he will be a Saint, but playing for a max deal bet he will produce, look at the amount of weapons he has around him to help.

Kyle Orton, Den, he is likely to be moved as Tim Tebow is set to take over after Orton had a career year. There has been talk of Orton to Arizona but I believe Kolb will be a much better fit. I think it is much more likely he will end up in either Cincinnati, or Seattle. But either place he will continue to put up good numbers in this play off season.

RUNNINGBACKS

Reggie Bush, NO, who knows were Reggie will play this year. But he is versitile fast and a great talent. Reggie is ready for a big deal.

Matt Forte, Chi, now some of our staff may not be big fans of Forte, but this guy had been a value for Chicago. He is set to make $550,000 this being his last year of his rookie contract. You can bet he will want to prove he is worth a big contract.

Frank Gore, SF, he has always been a fantasy owner favorite, wether there in a PPR league or not. The Hip is 100% according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus. He is already hungry to prove he still has some gas left in his tank. He will earn a new big contract.

Ryan Grant, GB, they say his ankle is 100% so this guy is not only going to start off the season sharing carries with Starks, but playing to earn a contract. Expect both to go in his favor.

LaDainian Tomlinson, NYJ, allot of talk that he will take a step back this year to Shonn Green, but he is playing for what will more than likely be his last contract.

Thomas Jones, KC, we have heard from a few contacts in the league that this could be his last season, but either way he is only tenured through this season.

WIDE RECIEVERS

Dwayne Bowe, KC, did last season's monster year come a season to early? We don't think so expect monster number for Bowe this season as he works twards a monster deal in 2011.

Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona, With Arizonas lack of talent, people would expect them to just use the franchise tag on Fitzgerald for the 2012 season. But he had a clause in his contract where if he gets franchised he will make $23 million, so don't expect that.

Marques Colston, NO, he has shown spurts of greatness here and there but with him and his QB playing for a contract it maybe a monster season for both.

Robert Meachem, NO, with 2 Wideouts playing for a contract the Saints may benifit the most.

Mario Manningham, NYG, he maybe the most interesting player in this category we think. If Steve Smith departs buy Manningham because it will be a monster year.

Reggie Wayne, IND, believe it or not he still had 111 grabs for 1300+ yards last year, he will earn one last monster deal.

Chang Ochocinco, Cin, once he is done wrestling gator, bull riding, be assured he will be ready to earn on the field, no matter who his QB is.

Wes Welker, NE, maybe a very important year for Welker, Coach Belichicks track record shows he allows vets leave before there production drops. He needs to prove his value!

Tightends

Mercedes Lewis, JAX, Fresh off his break out season if he continues he will get paid.

Jermichael Finley, GB, greenbay drafted Dj williams so was that a hint that Finely maybe on his way out? Either way good play he will be paid somewhere.

Greg Olsen, chi, Bears officials say he is their second priority behind Forte, so more good play will help him and fantasy owners in 2011.

Visanthe Shaincoe, MIN, The vikings drafted a young TE which may not be a good sign a him or fantasy owners. More will be known once camp finally opens but it could be a sticky situation in Minnesota for him.JBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17406096829402097142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-14641237344852695972011-07-16T18:29:00.002-04:002011-07-16T18:29:53.129-04:00Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings

1.) Aaron Rodgers, he Is consistent he has big playmakers and he will have Ryan Grant back to
Help keep the secondary honest. I think the Green Bay offense will put up huge numbers this year.
2.) Michael Vick, he is probably number 1 on most list, and after a year like last it is deserved. Personally I won't touch him, though I don't doubt he will put up some numbers, the risk of him being injured is to high.
3.) Peyton Manning, his weapons are all back, but some concern of the runningbacks, and offensive line. But he is Peyton Manning.
4.) phillip Rivers, the amount of weapons the chargers have is astonishing, if they get better production from the backfield, and if they make the Vincent Jackson situation work, this could be his best season.
5.) Tom Brady, alot of targets for Tom again this year may not have another 36td and 4int season but you know Tom Brady will find his receivers.
6.) Drew Brees, I dont expect another 22int's, Brees will be hungry for redemption after last year
7.) Ben Rothlisberger, no offseason personal distraction for him, I think big ben may have a career year, him and mike Wallace are going to do big things this season!
8.) Matt Schaub, he burnt allot of fantasy owners early last year, including me, but he had a great 2nd half of the season. And he is throwing to Andrea Johnson, Owen Wilson, Arisn Foster.
9.) Tony Romo, his collar bone won't be a problem, he has big weapons around him, bit can Dez Bryant and miles Austin co exist?
10.)Josh Freeman, He has good targets, big play receiver and tightend, and this guy has some wheels so he will get you some rush yards, he finished 2nd for QB rushing behind Vick last year.
I would say if In your draft if your coming into the last few rounds and you like your positional players and need a back up QB get Tim Tebow!JBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17406096829402097142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-67735025516893180342011-07-16T18:24:00.000-04:002011-07-16T18:24:39.646-04:00Fantasy Football Defense/Special Teams Combo RankingsIn some leagues that do defense and special teams combo scoring, you must have a the defense in order to get return points. This confuses allot of people if your in a league like this you don't want to draft a WR or RB because of there return threat because you will not get points for there returns. Basically if I was in a league like this and say I have Josh Cribs, well if cribs returns 3 punts for 185 yards and scored once, I won't get points for any of that, I will only get points for what Cribs did while on the offensive side of the ball. Then whoever, if anyone, in my league has the browns defense would get the points for his or anyone on Clevelands team. Seriously be sure you know your leagues scoring inside and out! So here are our top defensive and special team combo rankings.
2011 fantasy football tight end PPR rankings
Tight end is a position that if played right you can pull away in week to week match up's. In most cases games are close so this is where you can really begin to separate yourself. Here is our 2011 fantasy football tight end PPR rankings.
1.) Antonio Gates, SD
2.) Dallas Clark, IND
3.) Vernon Davis, SF
4.) Jason Witten, Dal

When drafting your fantasy team you always want the NFL bye week schedule next to you. The 2011 NFL bye schedule can be a very helpful tool if used correctly. You never want to put yourself in a postion where your back up's have the same bye week as your starters. So print your self a copy of the 2011 NFL bye weeks and have it handy during your drafts. It is a very frustrating position to be in, if at the end of your draft your 2 big players have the same bye week, or if you starting and there back up does.
Now with that said there are people who go out of there way to draft a team where to big time players have the same bye week. This could be tricky because there is a good change you wouldn't be taking best available at times. I try to make sure I get a back up QB RB and TE with different bye's then my starter. The waiver line can normally get you a receiver to get you through a week if need be.
Another tip, playoff contenders. I've always been a firm believer that playoffs should end by week 14. This is were a little preparation goes a long way. You have to be smart especially with QB's and RB's since they are more likely to sit when a playoff spot is clinched. We Will touch more on this soon but something for everyone to keep on mind.

Week 5: Baltimore, Cleveland, Dallas, Miami, St. Louis, Washington
Week 6: Arizona, Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Seattle, Tennessee
Week 7: Buffalo, Cincinnati, New England, NY Giants, Philadelphia, San Fransisco
Week 8: Atlanta, Chicago, Green Bay, NY Jets, Oakland, Tampa Bay
Week 9: Carolina, Detroit, Jacksonville, Minnesota,
Week 10 No bye weeks scheduled
Week 11 Houston, Indianapolis, New Orleans, PittsburghJBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17406096829402097142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-42576152062678938692011-07-16T18:07:00.001-04:002011-07-16T18:07:23.624-04:00Fantasy Football PPR league Reciever Rankings

PPR league members really can benefit from having a prime receiver! Normal leagues I would argue against taking a wide out in the first round, but in a PPR league 6 grabs for 60 yards is 12 points were as a normally scored league 12 points is 60 yards with a TD. So a big named wide out who goes out gets you 9 catches for 95 yards and a score just bagged you 24 points. Here is our top 16 receivers for PPR leagues, only going to highlight guys who playing in a contract year. We will be releasing a more indepth round of list soon. Also be watching for our spread sheets for everyone to print and take to their respective drafts.

1.) Andrea Johnson, Houston
2.) Roddy White, ATL
3.) Hakeem Nicks, NYG, this guy is a beast but one thing to keep in mind Eli has had different 100 catch recur we each of the last 3 years.
4.) Calvin Johnson, Det
5.) Larry Fitzgerald,Ari, Contract year
6.) Reggie Wayne, Ind
7.) Greg Jennings, GB
8.) Wes Welker, NE, i think his value increases more than anyothet player in PPR rankings
9.) Dwayne Bowe, KC
10) DeSean Jackson, Phi
11) Brandon Marshall, Mia
12) Mike Wallace, Pitt
13) Vincent Jackson, SD, if before you draft they are saying he is happy with his situation and is going to play a hole season he is a top 5 guy!
14) Brandon Lloyd, Den
15) Steve Johnson, Buf
16) Sidney Rice, Min, I'm sure people will think we are crazy for having Rice here but he is in a contract year and he is coming into this season healthy again.JBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17406096829402097142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-67135295971912050092011-07-16T18:04:00.002-04:002011-07-16T18:04:35.702-04:00Fantasy Football PPR Runningback Rankings

PPR leagues change everything! It can take a Runningback in the low teens normally and project him into the top 5. Here are our 2011 fantasy football runningback's rankings for all PPR leagues.
1.)Arson Foster, while Im not sold he will produce another 2000 total yards this season he will get allot of carries, and he caught 66 passes last season for over 600 yards.

2.)LeSean McCoy, in non PPR league's McCoy isn't this far up the board but this guy caught 78 balls last year for over 600 yards. Then hit for over 1000 rushing yards.

3.)Maurice Jones-Drew, people maybe scarred of Rashard Jennings steal carries this year, I say don't be. The hold out also will push Jennings progression. With year long knee problem's and what was considered a down year he produced over 1600 total yard with 7 td's. He missed a few games keep in mind too. Knee is fixed and I think you can expect larger output across the board for this guy.

4.)Chris Johnson, he may of only had 200 yards receiving but he had 44 catches, he will put up big numbers again this year.

5.)Jamaal Charles, 1900 total yards last year, people are scarred to take him because of Thomas jones being there, he will get his game in and game out, and too be honest so won't Jones, but I would put jones in the mid to late 20's. Honestly I feel like he could be the best Runningback option, but we will have to see what happens. But I've heard there is a chance jones could be on his way out if that is the case rank him 1 or 2

6.)Adrian Peterson, his receiving numbers will improve this year, as will his carries, as long has he holds onto the football.

7.)Ray Rice, slow start last year but he got it going finally. Expect good things this year from a guy who pulled in 63 receptions last season.

8.)Darren McFadden, last season 1600+ yards with 10 TD's. 500 yards through the air, he was targeted 61 times. If Bush isn't there he could easily be a top 5 guy!

9.)Frank Gore, though he had a down season last year, plus injury problems, he still racked up 1300 total yards, he will be healthy and hungry!

10)Peyton Hillis, 1200 yards rushing 11 TD's and 61 grabs for 477 yards with 2 more TD's not bad for a 'fullback'

11)Steven Jackson, last year with a rookie QB he went over 1200 yards with 6 rushing TD's, and 383 receiving yards. He still has some good years

12)Matt Forte, the only way I would suggest drafting him is if your in a PPR league, he had 51 grabs for 547 yards and 3 TD's. He did rush for over 1000 yards with 6 TD's.
If in a PPR league a top receiver could be a safe way to go with your first pick, depending on your QB point set up and if any of the RB's left are catching threats.
Think about it a wideout can go out catch 8 balls for 60 yards, and he got you 14 points with out a score. PPR scoring makes Wes Welker easily a top 7 receiver, and a guy like Dallas Clark look better than he already does. Some people say these leagues are for beginners but if you find it fun then do it, that is why we play!
A PPR league can transform a sad fantasy day into a pretty good day, but like I said, it changes all the rankings. We will now move into ranking WR TE and RB for all PPR leagues. You maybe asking why are we re ranking Runningbacks, well your still getting your points per possession so it changes the RB's as well. For me if your in a PPR league Adrian Peterson falls bellow Maurice Jones-Drew and maybe abit further.
So check back and we will get all this out in the next few days!! Also if anyone has any fantasy questions please email us at the link on the page and we will answer on a column, and we will answer all questions!JBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17406096829402097142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891400348742328416.post-75154857598974848302011-07-16T18:01:00.002-04:002011-07-16T18:01:16.559-04:00Fantasy Football Defense rankingsFor the rest of you who get special teams points only if you own, and start the player that score, rather than obtaining them through the defense this list is for you guys! Having a good defense with a favorable match up can steal up 15-20 points and in most leagues,(minus ppr leagues because those scores can be in the high 170's) that is enough to pull away from you opponent. I always like to play with that waiver line when it come to defenses. If your defense is on by or they have a unfavorable match up don't release your team and expect them to be sitting there next week waiting. Im always telling people if someone does that too pick there team up, if you can afford to drop a bench player. Sometimes the best offense is a defense, or in this case blocking someone out from a good defensive option. That really applies to all positions but we will talk about that more soon. So here is our list of the top 15 defenses. Now soon we will post all our list in a printable form with the top 35-50 at each position then a top 200, so you can take them with you too your draft.
